Fried Pies, a glass of strawberry lemonade and a taste of the fair!!

Monday night, the whole gang got together to go get our fair on!!!!! Every year the fair comes to town for about a week, so it is a must to rearrange your schedule and go get your fair share of fatty fried foods!!! And oh how they are so yummy!!!!!! It is an absolute MUST to eat roasted corn, fried pies that come in apricot, apple, cherry, and peach ( apricot is the best ), fried snickers and drink some freshly squeezed strawberry lemonade!!! There are so many other foods to choose from, but that is what Derryck and I really crave!!!! All that fried food is just so scrumptious!!!!! I must say though, we are not really for the rides. In my personal opinion, I think they are flat out dangerous! Honestly, how safe can a ride be that you can take apart, drive across the state and set it up exactly the same.... totally unreliable if I must say. There are probably pieces and parts that just happen to get lost in all that travel... so as for rides, we are a no-go...... I never grew up going to fairs before, so it has been kind of fun the last couple years that I've lived here. Maybe we can get in another day of fried foods galore before it ends on Sunday.... I might be able to talk D into it... even if it's just for the fried pies!!!! yummmm

Chicken Fried

So yes, it has been a while since I've blogged and a lot has gone on since then...  But I finally had a night to  post about our night with the Zac Brown Band!!!!  Thanks to some friends in Los Angeles, Derryck scored some sweet VIP tickets to the concert with a meet/greet and eat with the band!!!! It was AMAZING!!!!!!!! Zac has a restaurant with his own home cooking recipes and we got a little taste of them during dinner. And the band even SERVED us!!! They were so down to earth and so talented!!! It was such a great concert!!! D and I would definitely LOVE to see them again!!!

The other day, as I was taking the dogs out for a stroll, I decided to take some quick pics of them ( especially since they are sportin their Texas Tech Red Raider bandanas!!!!!!! GOOOO TECH!!!!!!  And let me just say it is a little challenging taking pictures of dogs that do not cooperate very well in front of cameras!!!! But I did get a couple good ones!!! I working my magic in photoshop on just a few of the pics.. I just loooove my Charlie and Boo!!!!! They are my babies!!

A little Hippie and some Ray of Light

Derryck and I just got back from a little mini-vacay to Santa Fe (the land of the hippies and tree-huggers and everyone has like 5 bumper stickers on their subaru car)  where we went to see Ray LaMontagne and David Gray in concert!! Both of us were so very excited to get out of lubbock even if it was just for 2 days!! We stayed at the wonderful Eldorado Hotel and spa where we were treated with massages and facials!!! We walked to the Square where people sell all of the amazing things that they make... and surprisingly I didn't buy anything!!! I really have no idea how that happened! We had a couple of our friends from lubbock also come up for the concert which was great!!! We made an amazing wine and cheese spread in the back of Jen's car right before the concert!!! and let me just tell you, RAY IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Derryck and I have been ray junkies almost since he's started... so to say we were looking forward to it is an understatement! And oh how it was worth the drive!!!!!! He sounds even better live than on his cd!!! I don't even have words!!! So if you get the chance to ever see him in concert.... GO!!!!!

Overall, we had a great trip!! There definitely are some interesting people that live in Santa Fe... and yep, I stood out like a sore thumb!!! I am so glad that we were able to make the trip and Jen thought of us for the extra tickets!!! I would absolutely love to see Ray and David again in concert, as well as Derryck. So sad it's over... now back to work in the morning!!!
